Notes - After graduation from Ashland C-3 (Farmers' High) School, Evelyn attended business school in Fayette and was employed by the Office of the War Ration Board during World War II. After Fay's discharge from the Army Air Corps at the end of the war, the couple settled in Fayette.
Evelyn worked outside the home for several years as a clerk at the Mattingly Bros. and Ben Franklin variety stores. For a few years, she also played an active part in Home Oil Co., the family business, as bookkeeper. She had been a member of Fayette Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a devoted member of the Boonsboro and later the Fayette Christian Churches.
