    • Alexander served in the New Jersey militia during the Revolutionary War. He participated in the battles of Monmouth and Springfield. In a sortie against a British post on Staten Island, he captured a British musket, which remained in the family for quite some time.

      Sometime about 1815, Alexander and his family moved to Seneca county, New York.
