Born and raised in New Woodstock, NY. marriage date may be October 24 1900
Originally from New Woodstock, NY (born and raised there). attended Rochester Business Institutes in Rochester, NY. Worked in Maynards Grocery Store in Erieville, NY. and later bought it but went broke, sold it and became the Erieville postmaster. Was the postmaster at time of daughter Louises wedding 1924. He lived in the "Burgess " house from the time of his marriage which was later the site of a firehouse only a couple of doors away from the Seaver Homestead( his wifes home). Both daughters born at home in what was still referred to as the Burgess House.
Member of the Cazenovia Presbyterian Church
He died of Kidney trouble as did his sister Alice "Brights Disease". He also had hardening of th arterie so that when he died it had affected his mind. A lot of the above information from Louise Coomber in 1981
Obituary notice: Newell V Freeborn, 50, postmaster-merchants of Erieville, MadisonCo died at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon (May 10) following a long illness. Mr. Freeborn had been active in thelieve of the community since early manhood. He had always been a general merchant of the village. He was widely known as a collector and dealer in antiques. He received his appointment of postmaster under the first Wilon administration. Survivd by wife Jennie Seaver , two daughters Mr. R A Coomber of Fairport and Mrs Raymond Mead of Taunton< Mass, his mother Mrs W H Freeborn and a sister Mrs H K Stoddard of New Woodstock. Burial will be at Erieville, NY
His diploma issued by Common School, Cazenovia, NY Madison county dated July 1890
