Notes - On the tombstone of her grandparents, L.W. and Effa Chase, is engraved the following: "Gravemarkers are in place on this lot for the remains of L.W. and Effa Chase and all of their descendants and spouses, with the exceptions of their only granddaughter, Manette Chase Stegall, her spouse and their descendants."
An automobile accident on August 18, 1985, took the life of Manette, and ended her marriage of 55 years, as well as ending her husband's custom rifle making career. They were traveling home to Gunnison, Colorado, and were close to St. Joseph, Missouri, when the accident took place. Manette died a few hours after it. Keith recovered, but he never did make more of his beautiful custom rifles because his shoulder was very much injured. He felt he wouldn't be able to make a good enough product.
