Notes - Naoma graduated from Syracuse University in 1944, with a degree in music education. She taught elementary and vocal music at Andrew S. Draper School in Schenevus from 1946 to 1953. As a result of her husband's job with the State Department, she embarked on a 17-year adventure of living overseas, where she raised her four children. The family lived in Ethiopia, Turkey, India and Thailand and traveled extensively through Europe and the Middle East.
Naoma enjoyed studying the languages and customs of the host countries and was active in various choirs. She was an avid bridge player and instructor.
In 1970, the family returned to Otsego County, settling in Milford. Naoma and Embree moved to Georgia in 1983, where they lived until Embree's death in 1987, at which time Naoma returned to the local area.
