  • Notes
    • According to Conklin Mann, "John Concklyne of Southold and Huntington," The American Genealogist, v. 22, p 115–117:
"Joseph (4), b. by time the 1698 census was taken, unless he was a second Joseph b. ca. 1700, d. 13 Nov. 1780 'in 80th yr.,' g.s. South Haven, L.I. He, at one time or another, was Jr. and Sr., but his designation in old age was 'Joseph Conkling, miller,' and as such he appears in the account books of Joseph Landon, Long House John Conklin and others. It is unlikely that he ever married. He was an active man in Eastern Long Island and appears to have had milling interests. His will, dated 30 Sept. 1780, proved 17 Nov. 1780, left all property to his 'cousin Jeremiah Havens,' who was his grand-nephew, being the grandson of Sarah Conklin [b. 1685, dau. of John Conklin III & Sarah Scudder] and John Havens, and the son of Jonathan Havaens and Patience Tuttle. On 19 Dec. 1780, a month after the death of Joseph Conlkin, Jeremiah Havens m. Mehitable Brown. Their first son, b. in 1781, they named Joseph Conklin Havens."
