  • Notes
    • A native of Michigan, Arthur came to Nevada with his parents as a young boy. He pursued electrical engineering in college, and graduated from the University of Nevada with a degree in the subject in 1924.

After his marriage, he went to work for the Sierra Pacific Power Company as an assistant engineer. He was employed there for eight years, during which time he returned to school and earned a more advanced degree in his field.

In 1936 he left Sierra Pacific Power to serve as manager of the Western States Utilities Company in Winnemucca. By 1944 the Colorado River Commission had assumed authority over the electrical power industry in Nevada, and that same year Jimmy moved to Las Vegas to become their resident engineer.

Not long after joining the Commission he was promoted to chief engineer, and also took on the positions of office manager and official secretary. He was employed there for 20 years.
