In the course of his married life, he built and sold and lived on many farms in Niagara County and even went to Michigan with his family in 1836, to Calhoun County, where he bought a half section of land, expecting to divide it up and sell. In 1837, 60 acres of which were deeded to his brother, Shubal, in consideration of $1,000.
