  Harry attended Mercersburg Academy and Lehigh University, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1933. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated the Mad Hatter Ski Slope in Danbury, Conn. from 1949-1959 in partnership with Perry R. Roehm. He became an insurance agent and the owner of Davis and Hoyt, Inc. in Danbury, Connecticut.
