  Robert was also among the first eight students at the Arkansas Industrial College. After graduation, he went west for a short period as I have tales of him returning with a Buffalo skin rug. He never married, and shortly after his return home he contracted some form of illness that caused him to be institutionalized for several years. As the illness became worse, he was allowed to return home where he died shortly afterwards
