• Notes

  Leonard was educated in the Maysville public schools and at the University of Maysville. He began his active career in the manufacture of fire brick with his father in St. Louis, in 1872. The firm later became S. Mitchell & Sons, and incorporated, 1886, as the Mitchell Clay Manufacturing Co., of which Leonard was the vice president; he was also secretary Cheltenham Fire Clay Co.; and vice president Mitchell Realty and 1nvestment Co.
