Notes - Abner graduated with honors from The Hill School, where he starred in soccer as he did later at Princeton. He majored in chemical engineering at Princeton and was president of the chapter of chemical engineers. He joined Tiger Inn with his close Hill classmates Bob Baxter, John Burr, Bill Cox, Bill Faber, Tom Fitts, Jack Hays, Frank Rhodes, Fred Schock, and Tom Steffens, then the biggest section of Hill men in T.I. history.
Abner was a Fulbright scholar and attended the University of Gittingen in Germany. He rose to prominence with Hercules Chemical Co., W.R. Grace & Co., Stauffer Chemical Co., and ICI Inc.
