  David graduated from the Romford School, Washington, Connecticut, and attended Nichols Junior College and New York University. He served four years in the Air Force during World War II, having enlisted 12 August 1942. He was employed for several years with Matheny School in Peapack, New Jersey as part of the care-staff. In 1978, David and Elizabeth moved to Waxhaw, North Carolina, where David volunteered at JAARS Mission Center, and in 2006, they moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
