  Harriet worked as a nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C., and was a homemaker. She was an active volunteer with the Lee County branch of the Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council and in her 21 years of service, was a Brownie and Junior Scout Leader, an Area Service Unit Manager and the keeper of the "Little Dears" at Camp Caddell, the Girl Scout summer day camp for Lee and Western Harnett County.
