  Joseph graduated in 1935 from Seaford high school, and was president of his senior class. He was a member of the 1934 Seaford high school football team which was undefeated, untied, and unscored-upon. He was an Army PFC and veteran of World War II. He worked briefly in Wilmington, Delaware, as a weekly insurance sales agent. He worked as a guard at the Dupont plant in Seaford. He was an outside installer/pole climber and vehicle maintenance supervisor, Diamond State Tel. Co. (AT&T Bell System) at Newark and Seaford, retiring in 1979 after 33 yrs.
