  Israel Lathrop, son of Samuel Lathrop and Elizabeth Scudder, in E. B. Huntington, A Genealogical Memoir of the Lo-Lathrop Family in This Country, p. 46. Family of Israel Lathrop and Rebecca Bliss, A Genealogical Memoir of the Lo-Lathrop Family in This Country, p 59–61. In 1687, Dr. Soloman Tracy sold the southwest corner of the Sluman lot on Canterbury Turnpike, Norwichtown, to Jonathan Crane where the latter built a barn. In the sale of the Crane property to Israel Lathrop, the land and barn were included. In 1722, Israel gave the land, then called "a garden spott," to his son William, who in 1729, gave it back to his father, who then in 1731, deeded it to his son Ebenezer, "with shop by the side of sd highway." About 1744, William Lathrop, Jun., bought of Ebenezer Lathrop, his step-brother, land adjoining the "garden spott."
