Notes - In December 1855, William moved with his family to Wayne Township, Indianapolis, where he married Rebecca Brown on December 16, 1860. He served with Company D, 124th Indiana Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He taught school in Wayne Township and was driving a street car in Cincinnati in 1868. At the time of the 1880 census, he was working as a laborer.
At the time of the 1910 census, William gave his name as John A. Scudder. According to his death certificate, his mother's name was Eliza Williams.
