Notes - Isaac Scudder left Long Island soon after the death of his father for Connecticut, where about 1744 he was drill-master of a troop of militia or horse.
Scudder Searches, v. 2, no. 2, (Spring 1990) has this to say about Isaac:
"Isaac, born ca 1706, Huntington; died 5/6 Mar 1784, age 78, South Norwalk, CT; married 1) Sarah Banks; married 2) Elizabeth St John. Isaac and both wives are buried in East Avenue Cemetery, South Norwalk. Isaac apparently departed Huntington before he was married since neither marriage is recorded there. He must have obtained his share of his father's estate before he left home since no bequest for him appears in the will. The New York will abstract does not name Isaac but an accompanying errata sheet affirms that his name is mentioned. Benjamin III in his Bible identifies Isaac as a 'sadler.' Isaac probably is the Isaac Scudder 'of Hooker Street' who was co-owner of the sloop Sally that was sold for £325 to the Continental forces in January 1776.* Isaac had four children, one by Sarah and three by Elizabeth."
