  Mary graduated from Huntington High School; received her A.B. from Mt. Holyoke College; her M.A. from Columbia University and completed three years of graduate study at Columbia University. She was principal of the Scudder School for Girls in New York; Dean of Women at Winthrop College,South Carolina; Academic Dean of Chevy Chase Junior College, Washington, D.C.; vice President of Scudder-Collver School, New York; Assistant in Vocational Guidance at Teachers College, Columbia University; Instructor at University of Delaware and Hunter College; and Dean of Students at Russell Sage College, Troy, New York. She was a member of Pi Lambda Theta and Delta Kappa Pi, Honorary Societies and was listed in "Leaders in Education" and in "Who's Who in American Education."
