  Muriel graduated from St. Mary's School in Peekskill, New York in 1922 and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1926. Always active volunteering for church activities, she also loved being a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Manhasset. In the 1950's, Muriel was a forerunner in the travel book industry, having written three booklets, "Europe in a Suitcase," "Tourist in Russia" and "Caribbean Traveler," advising what to take on trips and how to pack it. She also ran a mail order business of travel items. Resulting from her knowledge of travel packing, she was invited to appear on the TV game show, To Tell the Truth.
