  Florence was a member of a family long prominent in social and political circles in Mexico, and was a particular favorite of President and Mrs. Diaz of that republic. Her wedding to Henry occurred in Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church, which was founded in 1875 by the Rev. Dr. William Butler, grandfather of the bride, and an uncle, the Rev. Dr. John W. Butler, assisted by the Rev. F. E. McGuire, officiated. Her father was connected with the diplomatic service for a number of years.
