Notes - Ezekiel graduated from the Western Reserve College; studied medicine in Brooklyn, and theology at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary, graduating in 1855. He returned to India in 1870 and took charge soon after his brother, William, had returned to America, of the boy's Seminary at Vellore. However, health problems required him to request release from the mission.
He accepted a call to a church in Upper Red Hook, New York, and his home became a home for all Scudders of the third generation and their friends. He served for six years as Pastor of the Grand Avenue Reformed Church in Asbury Park.
Ezekiel was first stricken with paralysis about 1894, and he had been in poor health ever since. In November 1895, he went to San Antonio, hoping that the change of climate would be of benefit to him. But he succumbed to the paralysis while there.
